A metal component (1) designed to be fixed to a masonry wall (2), e.g. to provide a corner reinforcement before being covered with a rendering material (3) containing a mineral charge (4), has flanges (7, 8) with at least one aperture, and a projecting edge (6) which is coated with a resin (12) containing a mineral charge (13). The resin coating has two undercoats - a bonding undercoat in contact with the metal and containing no mineral charge, and a finishing undercoat with a mineral charge - and it can be applied by spraying or dipping to give a thickness of between 1 and 4 mm. The mineral charge in the rendering and the resin coating is of silica or calcium carbonate in grains of 0.1 to 1 mm, while the metal component is made from galvanised steel or aluminium 0.1 - 2 mm thick.
