Overlapping sheets 4 supported on endless belt 5 are forwarded to nip rollers 7 and 8 of a sheet processing machine by reciprocating sliders 6 (or suction grippers 40, Fig. 3, not shown) which are moved by a cam 11 through lever 29. The speed of advancement of sliders 6 is controllable by varying the speed of rotation of cam 11 during part. of its rotational cycle. For this purpose cam 11 supported on a shaft 31, Fig. 2, is driven through a differential gear 14, 25, 32 from a shaft 13. Bevel gear 25 is movable on a lever 24 (when required) under the control of a further cam 15 to accelerate or retard the speed at which gear 32 and hence cam 11 is driven through the differential. Sheets 4 are fed from a stack supported on table 1 by a separator 2 and fed by belt 5 to front stops 10 which are raised and lowered on lever 30 controlled by a cam, supported on lever 29. |
