Preparations for dyeing and setting hair contain as protective agents against U. V., cpds. of the benzimidazole, benzophenone and phenylglyoxylic acid series. Hair dyes may be aromatic nitro dyes, azo dyes or triphenylmethane dyes. Other addns. may be hair tonics, hair cosmetics and perfumes. The protective cpds. are used in 0.01-2% concns.
