PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin for information recording, having a low hygroscopicity and excellent balance between heat resistance and mechanical properties, by copolymerizing a specified mixture with methyl methacrylate and other unsaturated compounds copolymerizable therewith. CONSTITUTION:80-90wt% mixture (A) of 80-100wt% phenyl methacrylate (a) with, optionally, a monomer comprising at least one selected from the methacrylates of the formula (wherein R is an 8-20C linar or branched hydrocarbon group or a 6-12C alicyclic hydrocarbon group) (e.g., n- propylmethacrylate) and forms a polymer having a glass transition temperature >=80 deg.C, 10-70wt% methyl methacrylate (B) and 0-10wt% other unsaturated compounds copolymerizable with components A and B (e.g., methyl acrylate) are polymerized together in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator and, optionally, a suspension dispersant, an emulsifier and a chain transfer agent. |
