PURPOSE:To reduce a required storage capacity by enabling transmission/ reception of a message including a picture and coding a sent absence message and a received message when they are recorded and storing the result. CONSTITUTION:The television telephone set provided with coding means 102,104 coding a picture signal and a voice signal, a coding means 108 sending a coded signal to a telephone line 109, a coding means receiving the coded signal sent from the telephone line 109, and a decoding means decoding the coded signal received by the code reception means into the picture signal and the voice signal, has an automatic answering response function sending automatically the absence message comprising the picture signal and the voice signal coded and stored in a telephone set in advance to a telephone caller automatically when a telephone called party is absent. In the case of storing the absence message, the picture signal and the voice signal are coded and stores them in a multiplexed state, then the required memory capacity is reduced. |
