PURPOSE:To increase the permeability of a sintered body, to increase its saturation magnetic flux density and to improve its wear resistance and weatherability by sintering the powdery particles of Fe4N or Fe16N2 formed by subjecting iron (alloy) powder to nitriding treatment. CONSTITUTION:Iron (allay) powder is subjected to nitriding treatment to form particles essentially consisting of Fe4N or Fe16N2. Or, particles whose inside is constituted of Fe (alloy) and whose outer circumferential part is constituted of Fe4N or Fe16N2 are formed. Or, this nitriding powder is reduced to constitute its outer circumferential part of Fe (alloy). Then, these powder particles are sintered to obtain the objective iron nitride series high density sintered body suitable as a magnetic head material. |
