Urea-for aldehyde foams contg lignite or turf - water - wettable for agricultural uses

Finely ground lignite or turf is added to the precondensate, in the prepn. of prepn. of urea-formaldehyde foams as in parent patent, which is subsequently foamed and cured, to simplify the process. The foam is treated under vacuum at room temp. or 12--140 degrees C. equalising the pressure with gaseous ammonia, to improve its wettability to water. It is used agriculturally as a substrate or to improve the ground.
