A disc loading system for players that . handle 8 or 12 cm compact discs has a main housing (1) with a : projecting drive spigot to receive the disc (27). The disc is loaded against guides on the inclined surface of a hinged cover (2) that is opened. As the disc is entered an arm (7) with a sensor pin (9) is contacted and the arm moves through an arc to engage a latch (15). A guide arm (4) is moved vertically downwards and a flexible rod (24) is engaged to adjust the position of a pair of 'scissor' type levers (16,17) that copy guide pins to support the disc. Dependent upon the disc diameter the arms are set at appropriate angles. ADVANTAGE - Provides reliable handling for large and small diameter discs. (15pp Dwg.No.6/8)
