A disposable gas filter comprises a rectangular moulded polystyrene frame (1) divided by integral partitions 4, 5 into square compartments whose lengths equal their thickness, the compartments being filled with active charcoal 6 retained therein by sheets 2, 3 of cloth, plastics or glass fibre, welded or otherwise bonded to the edges of the frame and partitions. The partitions taper outwards as shown and may be injection moulded. The filter is made by bonding one sheet to the frame and partitions, then filling compartments, then bonding the other sheet. The frame may be fitted with a V-shaped peripheral sealing strip. Several such filters may be arranged in zig-zag fashion across a gas duct (Fig. 2, not shown). |
