1,182,025. Crimping filaments. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 4 June, 1968 [6 June, 1967], No. 26436/68. Heading D1F. A process for the continuous production of moderately elastic highly voluminous crimped filaments from synthetic polymers comprises subjecting the unstretched filaments in a first step to a false-twist crimping under heat, simultaneously stretching the filaments without the aid of a stretching pin, and cooling, and in a second step, subjecting the filaments to a further false-twist crimping operation under heat and in the opposite direction and a further stretching without the aid of a stretching pin, cooling the filaments again and relieving the tension. The second false-twist crimping may be carried out at a faster speed than the first. The first stretching operation is carried out at a temperature from 160- 180‹C and the second stretching operation at a temperature from 130-150‹C. |
