The flat liquid crystal-type screen (2) of the unit is situated on one side of a book-shaped case (1). A row of buttons (3) at its edge provides adjustment for display brightness, contrast and colour, and also for rate of data presentation. Information to be displayed for reading is carried on a magnetic storage unit which is inserted through a slot (4) at one end of the case. Electronic modules process, memorise and arrange this information, while supplementary data as required is introduced via a second aperture (5). - The reader has access to further controls (6) on the case side which alter the sequence of presentation of individual columns or chapters, and also the observed size of selected portions. A synchronised audio output may be activated and a braille decoder used.
