A wearable transmitter and locator unit are provided for tracking children, vulnerable persons, or animals. The wearable units comprise a band formed of a plurality of interlocking sections wherein at least two of the sections can be unlocked. The transmitter unit comprises a radio communications means, a location tracking transceiver, a user interface, a skin contact sensor, an optical sensor, an ECG, a thermocouple, a tension indicator, an alarm, a camera, a speaker, a locking mechanism utilizing a fingerprint reader or code, a slot for an emergency key, a power source, and a low battery indicator. The transmitter is arranged to communicate with the locator unit which includes a touch screen to display location information received from the transmitter unit, a locking mechanism utilizing a fingerprint reader or code, a unique stowed key, an ECG, a thermocouple, a skin contact sensor, an optical sensor, a speaker, an alarm, a power source, a back-up battery slot and a low battery indicator. In a further aspect, transmitter and locator units are arranged to monitor and receive vital signs only, whilst the further aspect may also be modified to include an inflatable cuff for reading blood pressure. |
