PURPOSE:To easily modify the function fo a digital telephone system by converting a telephone control program stored in a RAM provided in a telephone set to an object program by a C language compiler and executing the object program. CONSTITUTION:An exechange 1 transmits a start signal to a telephone set through a digital transmission line 11, and further reads out the telephone control program PG from a file system 4, transmits it, then transmits an end signal. When a telephone set 5 receives telephone control PG, stores it in a RAM 6, and after receiving the end signal, converts the telephone control PG described in C language to the object PG to be operated on the telephone by means of a C-language compiler, and executes the resulting program. Thereafter, the telephone set 5 transmits a ready signal to the exchange 1 and completes the initialization. After the initialization, the control is transferred to a line control module 3 from an initialization module 2 in the exchange 1. In case function modification is required for the digital telephone system the modification can easily be executed by modifying the telephone control PG held by the system 4, and letting a telephone set read it.
