Described is an echo compensation device with a digital transversal filter for an information transmission equipment as well as 4/2-wire interface with at least one such device. The invention provides a scale-value device which analyzes the value of each input signal and the values of the time-delayed signals of the transversal filter and as a function thereof establishes a scale value. Also provided is a device for scaling all signal values with the appurtenant scale value before these are weighted with the filter coefficients assigned to each. After the weighted scale signal values have been added, the value of the output signal is descaled with the same scale value with which the signal values had previously been scaled.
