PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical recording medium having interchangeability to multi-wavelength laser, in an optical recording medium wherein a recording layer, a reflecting layer and a protective layer are provided on a substrate, by adding a quinophthalone compd. having the absorption max. within a specific wavelength range to the recording layer. SOLUTION: In an optical recording medium wherein a recording layer, a reflecting layer and a protective layer are provided on a substrate, a quinophthalone compd. represented by formula (wherein R1 -R8 are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group or an alkyl group and X is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group or an aryloxy group) and having the absorption max. within a wavelength range of 400-500nm is added to the recording layer. By using the quinophthalone compd. or a mixture of this compd. and a compd. having proper light absorption in the recording layer, the optical recording medium capable of being recorded and reproduced by laser with a wavelength of 480-600nm and capable of being reproduced or recorded and reproduced by laser of 600-830nm can be obtained. |
