<p>A new silylated agent is of formula (I) (R = (un)substd. mono- or polycyclic aromatic gp.; R' = carbon or opt. branched aliphatic chain having less than 10 C atoms; and R2 = 1-6 C alkyl gp. Also claimed are: (i) a silicone hardcoat comprising the above silylated agent and a silicon cpd. contg. compsn.; and (ii) a solid substrate with a silicone hardcoat applied to it.</p>
