PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a water-soluble polymer-containing composition, capable of dissolving the water soluble polymer without forming lumps even without using any dispersing agent. SOLUTION: This method for producing the water soluble polymer substance-containing composition is characterized by comprising a process of preparing a preliminary dispersion having 3 to 7[%] concentration of (A) the water soluble polymer and 10 to 30[%] concentration of (B) the water soluble polymer which is different from the polymer (A) by adding (A) water soluble polymer powdery material having 1 to 100μm mean particle diameter to an aqueous solution of (B) the water soluble polymer having 1 to 200 mPa s viscosity as 10% aqueous solution, and a process of dissolving (A) the water soluble polymer by mixing the preliminary dispersion with water.
