<p>1,219,731. Sampling particulate materials; shoots. CIMENTS LAFARGE. 6 March, 1969 [28 March, 1968], No. 11892/69. Headings B8N and B8S. In a sampling device, particulate material e.g. cement &c., passes through a funnel arrangement 2, 3, 4, 5 and a chamber 13 between a cone 11 and a frustum-shaped casing 7 leading to an annular chamber between walls 8, 12 from which it drops into a further chamber 9 and out through an opening 10, a continuous sample being taken by a shoot 14, rotating in the flow path, having an inlet 15 in the shape of an annular sector and an outlet 23. The sampling procedure may be repeated on this sample to produce a smaller sample by similar apparatus 7<SP>1</SP> ... 12<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>1</SP>, 15<SP>1</SP>, the sample being delivered through a pipe 23<SP>1</SP>. The cones 11, 11<SP>1</SP> may rotate with the shoots 14 and the height of the funnel arrangement 2, 3, 4, 5 may be adjusted. The shoot inlets 15, 15<SP>1</SP> are wider than the annular chambers above them and are bordered by compensating open bottomed compartments (15 1 ), Fig. 2 (not shown), leading back into the main discharge to negate the effects of their side walls (20). For sticky substances a funnel arrangement (34<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 5 (not shown), may be provided leading to the annular chamber between walls 8, 12.</p> |
