PURPOSE:To prevent blocking of beads that tends to occur during prefoaming of the beads, by arranging in a foaming tank a plurality of stirring shafts each having a plurality of stirring blades for stirring the raw beads uniformly. CONSTITUTION:Each shaft E has the plurality of stirring blades 4, 5 with a prescribed interval therebetween. For example, two of such shaft E are rotated in opposite directions to each other shown by arrows (c), (d) by gears 7, 8. The apparatus for prefoaming styrene beads comprises the foaming tank 1 wherein the above-mentioned shafts are arranged. From an introducing port I, the foamable styrene beads are introduced into the tank 1, and while the beads are stirred by the blades 4, 5, heated steam is blown from holes G in an upper plate H into the tank 1 to prefoam the baeds, and then the beads are removed from a discharge port into the direction shown by an arrow Z to obtain the prefoamed styrene beads. |
