ACRYLIC ACID GRAFT COPOLYMER OF POLY SACCHARIDES

The method for preparing an alkali metal salt of acrylic acid graft polysaccharide copolymer comprises (a) dissolving a polysaccharide in an aq. soln. of 5-95 % alcohol at 60-90 deg.C for 0.5-5 hrs. and cooling it, (b) reacting acrylic acid monomer or its vinyl comonomer with a catalyst mixture of oxidation/reduction catalyst in the obtd. soln. (a) at 25-70 deg.C for 2-40 hrs., and (c) vacuum-distillating it at 60 deg.C to recover H2O and water, neutralizing it with alkaline water, and diluting it with distilled-water.
