PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a transient time of a television receiver where a picture at channel switching is disturbed. SOLUTION: A control section 20 allows a synchronizing signal generator 30 to supply a vertical synchronizing signal VDa to a vertical deflection circuit 25V in the case of switching a channel CH1 into a channel CH2, where the phase of the vertical synchronizing signal of the channel CH1 is sequentially delayed at a phase step Td and coincident with the phase of the channel CH2 at an M-th step. Since the vertical synchronizing signal of the channel CH2 after the switching and having a large phase difference Tp from the phase of the vertical synchronizing signal of the channel CH1 before the switching is not directly fed to the vertical deflection circuit 25V, the vertical deflection system smoothly traces the vertical synchronizing signal. Thus, a time t1 until the vertical synchronization system is synchronous with the vertical synchronizing signal of the channel CH2 after the switching is decreased more than that of a conventional television receiver. Thus, a transient time where a picture at the switching is disturbed can be reduced.
