PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric car overhead wire temperature detection device which can be easily attached to an electric car overhead wire such as a trolley cable and a lead wire connected thereto with sufficient fixing force without impairing the passage of a pantograph. SOLUTION: The electric car overhead wire temperature detection device 1 comprises a strip-like temperature sensor 2 made of a shape memory alloy, and a fixing piece 3 for fixing the temperature sensor 2 to an upper surface of the electric car overhead wire 11. The temperature sensor 2 is arranged to extend along the upper surface of the overhead wire 11, deformed according to the temperature change of the overhead wire 11, and capable of visibly recognizing abnormal heat generation. The fixing piece 3 comprises a spring part 3a curved in a substantially semi-annular shape along the outer circumferential shape of the overhead wire 11, and engagement parts 3b on both edges bent so as to be engaged with both sides of the overhead wire 11.
