PURPOSE: To structurally simplify the detection of a printing control strip without employing manual operation by arranging a device shifting predetermined sheets to discharge them to a pile in a paper discharge apparatus and suspending the photoelectric detection head of a measuring device from the horizontal beam between the side walls of the paper discharge apparatus in a movable manner. CONSTITUTION: A gripper bridge 2 cooperates with a first gripper opening cam 6 to separate a sheet 1 and this sheet is stacked on a pile 4 by a stopper 8. A second stopper 11 is provided so that the sheet 1 shifted to be lowered (the sheet P shifted to be lowered) occupies the position prescribed in a sheet running direction and operated at a time of the operation of a second gripper opening cam 9. A paper discharge apparatus has one horizontal beam 14 extending between the side walls thereof and arranged to the left upper corner range of the pile 4 and the photoelectric detection head 15 of a measuring device is suspended from the horizontal beam in a movable manner. The photoelectric head 15 detects the printing control strip comprising an indivisual measuring place together printed on the sheet 1 without being covered with the sheets 1 stacked without being shifted.
