A waste pith and a heat-melted synthetic resin were cured by an emulsion resin binder to give the title particle board. Thus, 100 parts pith powder of a coconut shell, 5-50 parts emulsion resin binder and heat melted synthetic resin were mixed and formed to porduce a sheet. The sheets were dried at 90-110 degree C and compression molded to give the lightweight particle board.
