PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording reproducing apparatus which can perform validation of the content in by image, by indicating the thumbnail image of the content of recording by list, at finalize processing, and indicating the thumbnail images by list, also when the optical disk of write-once type is used. SOLUTION: The apparatus is with a thumnail controller for controlling a thumbnail data formation portion which extracts the image first of all the image data currently recorded as a thumbnail data, a memory of the thumbnail data, and a thumbnail list formation portion which forms a thumbnail list indicative data by the thumbnail data from the memory.
