PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite printer with GDI as the standard support, in which a PC printing function by PDL can be added as an optional item and at a low price. SOLUTION: The composite printer 1, having a PC interface 3 for receiving GDI print data from a PC2, is provided with a function of performing print processing, based on received GDI print data. When a PDL option board 5 is attached and data is received through the PC interface 3, a control section 6 makes a decision as to whether the received data is GDI print data or PDL print data, and controls the PDL option board 5 to process the received data, if the received data is decided as being PDL print data.
