Pump for vehicle hydraulic brake system - has cylinder with two pistons connected to pressurised reservoir to give braking on main system failure

The pump which is used for vehicle braking. It consists of a hydraulic cylinder (1) with two pistons (2, 4). One piston emerges from the cylinder end and the other remains in it. Between the pistons are two chambers connected (5) to the main brake pipe and the pressure reservoir. The reservoir fills the rear chamber and the pump, with pressurised liquid. This gives a simple type of safety brake by opening the entry to the reservoir to overcome any type of failure in the main braking system (3). The drive (6) is at one end.
