A plurality of mines (M) are laid in a minefield unit (17), each of which is suspended in a gimballed manner in a retaining unit. A detection apparatus (16) determines the time-related position and speed (19) of an approaching foreign body (18) and aims the individual mines at the point (P') at which the foreign body (18) will soon be located. A plurality of mines are exploded simultaneously so that a stray shot, coming from various directions, strikes the foreign body. The hit probability is close to 100%. <IMAGE>
