PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for picture format conversion by which a users troublesome setting operation can be eliminated by automatically determining properties of a picture, which the user can arbitrarily set, so that they may be suitable for an original picture. SOLUTION: The device is provide with a picture input means 101 which inputs a first picture format, a control means 105 which estimates properties of a picture in the first picture format, and a FlashPix format picture output means 104 which outputs a second picture format, and the control means 105 controls picture conversion parameters, which the user can set, of the second picture format in accordance with estimated properties of the pictures. |
