PURPOSE: To provide an arm rest of which length and height are extensible with a simple composition, by dividing an arm rest with an almost rectangular shape cross-section by a diagonal line into two of an upper member and a lower member both in almost right angled triangle shape cross-section and connecting both members by a link member. CONSTITUTION: A storing hollow 14 is installed on a seat back 12 of a seat 11, and an arm rest 15 is mounted on the seat back 12 rotatably centering round a rotation shaft 18 from a state in which the arm rest 15 is stored in the storing hollow 14 to a used state in which the arm rest 15 is drawn out on a seat cushion 13. The arm rest 15 has an almost rectangular cross section and is divided by the diagonal line in a lower member 16, upper member 17 both with an almost right angled triangle shape and both the lower member 16 and the upper member 17 are connected with a pair of link members 19 and 20. When the width and the height of the arm rest 15 is to be extended, the upper member 17 is moved slantwise in upper front direction, the link members 19 and 20 are rotated to be forwarded, and brought into a state forward slanting byθfrom the vertical line HL.
