PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the jitters in the lands of a phase transition type optical recording medium which has a recording layer of an Ag-In-Sb-Te-base composition and for which a land-and-groove recording system is adopted and to suppress the increase in the jitters in the lands accompanying the repetition of overwriting. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium has the recording layer of the phase transition type on a substrate surface, is used to make reproduction light incident through the substrate, is provided with a dielectric layer on the reproducing light incident side in contact with the recording layer and is applied to land-and-groove recording. In such a case, the recording layer consists essentially of Ag, In, Sb and Te and tR<=λP/20 is attained when the thickness of the recording layer is defined as tR and the wavelength of the reproducing light as λP. λP/2<=td1 is attained when the thickness of the dielectric layer expressed by the optical path length at the wavelength λP is defined as td1. |
