摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for activating a solid polymer type fuel cell capable of activating each cell in the active condition without reversing each cell unit and promptly responding to a sudden increase in load when supplying electric power to an external load. SOLUTION: This solid polymer type fuel cell is constructed by laminating a plurality of cell units 20 formed with a fuel chamber 40 on one side and an oxidizer chamber 50 on the other side with respect to a cell 30 having electrodes 34 and 36 on both sides of an electrolyte film 33. This method for activating the solid polymer type fuel cell conducts electric power generation by supplying a fuel gas to the fuel chamber 40 and an oxidizer gas to the oxidizer chamber 50 for supplying an electric power to an external load. The power generation is conducted in one cell unit 20 or every two cell units 20 adjacent before power supply to the external load is started. Thereby, each cell unit 20 is prevented from being polarity-reversed and is active. The cell unit 20 generating the electric power is preferably switched every predetermined period.
