PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to smoothly retrieve a program associated with a program being viewed by a digital broadcast receiver according to the program being viewed. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver 100 has a function of performing retrieval processing for retrieving a program to be received and reproduced by the digital broadcast receiver, and previously stores patterns of retrieval conditions to be used for the retrieval processing while classifying them by genres of programs. When the program associated with the program being received and reproduced is retrieved by the digital broadcast receiver, the genre of the program being received and reproduced is discriminated, and patterns of retrieval conditions corresponding to the discriminated genre are displayed as items of a retrieving method in a menu.
