PURPOSE:To make a high voltage discharge lamp started securely and stably and prevent going off at the initial stage of lighting and flicker phenomenon by disposing a specified starter in parallel with the discharge lamp connected with the secondary side of a leak transformer through a capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A power source 7 is connected between one end (a) of a primary coil 4 of a leak transformer 1 and a middle tap (b). The other end (c) of the coil 4 is connected in series with one end (d) of a secondary coil 5, and between the other end (e) of the coil 5 and the end (a) of the coil 4 is connected a high voltage lamp 8 through parallel circuits of a main capacitor CM and its discharge resistance RH. A starter 11 consisting of serial circuits of a pulse generating capacitor CP and a diode D, and serial circuits of a bidirectional two terminal semiconductor switching element 9 such as an SSS element and its breakage preventing reactance 10 connected in parallel with them is connected in parallel with the lamp 8. A large starting energy by inductance of the coil 5 can thus be utilized. |
