An inlet/outlet (22) connects a cylinder (10) to a hydraulic fluid source. An extending primary piston (14) within the cylinder (10) forms a cylinder for a secondary piston (40). As the primary piston (14) extends, the fluid chamber (36) formed between it and the cylinder (10) decreases in size. An opening (38) links the fluid chamber (36) with the inside of the primary piston (14) underneath the head (42) of the secondary piston (40), forming a closed system and causing the secondary piston (40) to extend simultaneously with the primary piston (14). The secondary piston (40) may at the same time form the cylinder for a third piston (52) which is moved synchronously with the other two using the same principle.
