PURPOSE:To prepare a pretreatment agent capable of giving a sufficient adhesive strength without excessively etching dentine even when dentine and enamel are simultaneously treated. CONSTITUTION:This pretreatment agent contains (A) vinyl phosphonic acid, (B) a vinyl phosphonic acid metal salt, preferably an alkaline metal salt, (C) a hydrophobic carboxylic acid having a >=3C alkyl group or alkenyl group or an aryl group in the molecule, preferably a compound of formula I [R1 is H or a lower alkyl; (n) is 3 to 20] or formula II (R2 is H or a lower alkyl; R3 is a 2 to 20C organic residue), (D) water and (E) an alcohol compatible with water, preferably ethanol. Based on 100 pts.wt. the total amount of (D) and (E) [(E) is 50 to 300 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. (D)], the total amount of (A) and (B) is 1 to 30 pts.wt. [(B) is 30 to 80wt.% based on the total amount of (A) and (B)] and (C) is 1 to 20 pts.wt. As the pretreatment method, a method carried out by applying the agent using a sponge or a small brush until the adherend surface gets wet thoroughly is adopted in general. |
