DIRECT INJECTION DIESEL ENGINE

PURPOSE:To greatly reduce smoke and NOX simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A direct injection diesel engine which has a main injection nozzle 5a to inject fuel to a cylinder 1 and an auxiliary injection nozzle 6a to inject exhaust gas components near the main injection nozzle 5a so that the exhaust gas components can be injected before and after starting fuel injection and at the late stage of combustion comprises a gas supply member 21 fixed to the lower-face recessed portion 3a of a cylinder head 3. The gas supply member 21 consists of a dish 23 to which the auxiliary injection nozzle 6a is fitted, a through-hole 24 through which the main injection nozzle 5a passes, an annular passage 25 formed in the outer periphery of the through-hole 24, a communication passage 26 to communicate the annular passage 25 with the dish 24 and gas blow holes 27 formed at the bottom of the annular passage 25.
