PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen heat loss, enhance durability and improve maintenance workability in a rail heater for heating a point part by being attached to the side of a rail. SOLUTION: The outer face of the casing of the rail heater is expanded to the outside so as to be joined to the surface of the rail, a plurality of groove parts are formed on the inner face, a heating element is fitted to each groove part, and the surface of the heating element and the surface of the groove part are brought into face contact with each other. A heat insulator comprising a heat radiation plate, a heat reflection plate and an air layer are provided to be overlapped on the upper face of the groove part so as to cover the heat element. A receptacle connected with the heat element is integrally provided on the end of the casing, and electric power supply cable is connected to the receptacle.
