PURPOSE:To improve the operating property of an image forming device by recognizing that a user has finished the use of the image forming device, and controlling the operation of the device depending on the recognized result. CONSTITUTION:This image forming device 5 has an infrared-ray sensor which consists of an infrared-ray emitting means and an infrared-ray receiving means, the infrared ray emitted by the infrared-ray emitting means is projected, and by receiving the infrared ray reflected by a substance 18 with the infrared-ray receiving means, the distance from near the image forming device to the substance 18 is detected. When a substance (a person) is in the detecting area of the infrared-ray sensor separately, it is decided that the use of the device 5 is finished when the substance 18 is moved a specific distance from the device 5, or separated out of the detecting area. |
