THE SYSTEM FOR DETECTING POSITION OF VESSEL AND THE METHOD THEREOF

A system and a method for detecting the position of a vessel are provided to measure the exact location of the vessel for the berth and to anchor the vessel at the berth at the optimal time and distance, by using the distance and azimuth from the vessel to the berth through a laser distance measuring instrument. A system for detecting the position of a vessel is composed of a GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver(200) for calculating the first azimuth of the vessel for the berth; a gyro-sensor(201) for calculating the second azimuth of the vessel for the berth; a laser distance measuring instrument(202) for measuring the distance from the berth to the vessel; and an operation unit for determining the reference azimuth by comparing the first and second azimuths and computing the position of the vessel for the berth by using the reference azimuth and the distance measured by the laser distance measuring instrument.
