1,134,419. Automatic control of speed. TOS KURIM. June 27, 1966 [June 29, 1965], No.28687/66. Heading G3R. To synchronize the speed of rotary members 2, 3,4 with that of a master 1, the output of selsyn transmitters 6, 7, 8 on each slave member is compared with that on the master 5 in differential selsyns 17, 18, 19 which each drive (through a slipping clutch) a control member (21, Fig. 2 not shown) which actuates contactless switches (22, 23) at either extreme of its travel by which speed correcting servomotors 10, 11, 12 are controlled. The switches actuate relays 20 controlling the servomotors and actuation for correction in one sense also charges a capacitor which, when the control member moves away from its end position upon correction taking effect, is discharged into a relay which causes brief operation of the servomotor in the opposite direction; this is to eliminate hunting. Each selsyn 6, 7, 8 may be driven through an adjustable friction drive unit such as 48 which smooths sharp variations in speed. The rotary members 1....4 may be "drive conversion units" driving mechanisms 13....16 in mill or chemical plant. |
