In a method of knitting on a two bed machine in which each course comprises loops knit on each bed the loops knit on one bed are knooked-over e.g. at 242 later than those knit on the other e.g. at 236 in a least one course. Yarn for loops drawn by needles of the other bed is thereby robbed from the loops drawn by the needles in the first bed. Other courses are knit in which the loops knit on the said other bed are knooked-over later, or in which knocking-over on the two beds occurs simultaneously or the remaining courses may include courses off both types. The method may be employed when knitting tuck stitches, e.g. when knitting full cardigan, whereby tucking needles knock-over later than the needles of the other bed. The method is applicable to cylinder and dial, or superposed cylinder machines having stitch cams whose position can be set relative to similar cams in the other bed or having separate cams for delay or synchronism. |
