A mud gun which is used to seal the tap hole in electric melting furnaces, where the gun consists of a tube contg. a piston which is actuated by a compressor or by a similar appts. The novelty is that the front part of the tube can pivot round a hinge. That portion of the tube which pivots can pref. be locked in place by means of a conical bolt, and two hinges are pref. used in conjunction with two bolts. The hole used to fill the gun is pref. located just in front of the rear position of the piston. Filling the tap hole, e.g. with a clay. The gun is easier to load and to clean. |
