PURPOSE:To balance the heat loss of the switching element and to reduce the manhours required in selecting the characteristic by balancing the voltage which is impressed when the switching element is switched off. CONSTITUTION:The DC voltage impressed between terminals 1 and 1' is impressed to the primary winding 6-1 of a transformer 6 when a first and a second switching elements 2 and 3 are switched on which are to be switched on and off on the same phase. When the first and the second switching elements are switched off, the energy accumulated in a reactor 9 is supplied to the load through a diode 8 and the exciting energy of the primary winding 6-1 of the transformer 6 is fed back to the input side through the first and the second diodes 4 and 5. Resistance 14 is connected between the connecting points of condensers 12 and 13, connected in series between input terminals 1 and 1', and the center tap of the primary winding 6-1 of the transformer 6. The center tap of this primary winding 6-1 of the transformer 6 is clamped to half the potential of the DC voltage impressed between the input terminals 1 and 1'.
