PURPOSE: A method for a divided copy in a copier is provided to prevent the loss of electric power by enabling a carriage to pass through the first page with a light source lamp turned off in case that a user wants to copy only the second page remote from a determined position of a carriage. CONSTITUTION: A paper transfer solenoid is instantaneously turned on/off. Simultaneously, a non-video unit erasing lamp is maintained to be turned on. A pre-registration sensor is turned on. Then, a registration gate solenoid is turned on. A light source lamp is turned on. A carriage driving motor is driven. The first page of a manuscript is scanned. Simultaneously, The erasing lamp is turned off. The registration gate solenoid is turned off. The pre-registration sensor and the carriage driving motor are turned off. The erasing lamp is turned off. Therefore, a copy of the first page of the manuscript is completed.
