SIZING SYSTEM OF PAPER AND BOXBOARD

PURPOSE: To provide a production method of package cardboard whose edges have excellent resistance to penetration by liquids containing lactic acid and hot peroxide and in which method a sizing agent can be applied while the cardboard is produced by a papermaking machine to accordingly dispense with use of the usual CRS sizing agent accompanied with an insolubilizing agent. CONSTITUTION: A sizing agent mixture for improving the resistance of the cut edges of liquid packaging cardboard to the penetration by hot hydrogen peroxide and lactic acid comprises a cellulose-reactive sizing agent, a non- cellulose-reactive sizing agent and a thermosetting resin capable of covalent bonding to cellulose fibers and self-cross-linking. The production method of the sizing agent mixture and its use in manufacturing consumable liquid containers are also disclosed.
