LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display capable of reducing a display defect caused by an alignment layer. SOLUTION: Electrodes 116 and 128 are provided to the liquid crystal layer 300 side of one substrate 100 of a pair of substrates 100 and 200 sandwiching the liquid crystal layer 300 and the liquid crystal layer 300 is driven by an electric field generated between the electrodes 116 and 128. An alignment layer 132 is disposed on a projecting and recessed surface constituted of e.g. the pixel electrode 128 having apertures 130 and an interlayer insulating film 126. The alignment layer 132 is formed by ejecting an alignment layer material onto the projecting and recessed surface by an ink jet method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
