1,179,280. Method for combatting larvae in water. B. F. GOODRICH CO. 20 Feb., 1967 [21 Feb., 1966], No. 7918/67. Heading A5E. A method of combatting the larvae of mosquitoes, flies and midges, and schistosomes and their snail hosts comprises dissolving an organotin compound (R 3 Sn) n X in a vulcanizable elastomeric composition, vulcanizing and immersing the vulcanizate in water; R in the formula being alkyl or phenyl; n being 1, 2 or 3; and X being sulphide, oxide, chloride, fluoride, bromide, chromate, sulphate, nitrate, hydroxide, acetate, laurate, resinate, dimethyldithiocarbamate, naphthenate, paravinylbenzoate, acrylate, methacrylate, isooctylmercaptoacetate, maleate, nonanoate, hydride or methoxide. The elastomer may be selected from polychloroprene, isobutylene/isoprene copolymer, styrene/butadiene copolymer, cis-polybutadiene, ethylene/propylene rubber, polyether and polyester-urethanes, butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymers and terpolymers, ethylene/ propylene terpolymers, natural rubber, epichlorohydrin rubber and silicone rubber. The examples illustrate suitable vulcanizable compositions.
|
