Film units containing a pod of processing liquid are processed by pulling the unit through a narrow gap formed between a pair of rigid non-rolling members 14, 15 which are resiliently urged together so that the pod of processing liquid is ruptured and the liquid is applied as an even layer between two layers of sheet material forming the unit, means 27 being provided which is responsive to the thickness of sheet material approaching the gap so as to adjust the gap spacing. The bottom rigid member 14 has attached thereto a support surface 16 which co-operates with a sheet sensing member 25 extending from the upper rigid member 15. A leaf spring having end portions 30, 31 contacting extensions 33, 34 of member 25 is mounted on slightly raised portions 28, 29 of member 25. Edges 30, 31 of the leaf spring act as edge control members for squeezing the lateral edges of the sheets together to prevent the liquid distributed between the sheets leaking from the side edges of the sheets. |
