1305263 Flavouring food and tobacco INTERNATIONAL FLAVORS & FRAGRANCES INC 2 Sept 1970 [2 Sept 1969 28 July 1970] 41942/70 Headings A2B and A2C [Also in Divisions C2 and A5] Food flavour modifying and tobacco flavour modifying compositions comprise as active ingredient a compound of the formulae: where m is 1, 2, 3 or 4, n is 1, 2 or 3, R 1 is attached to a ring-carbon atom and is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical, R 2 , R 4 , R 5 are each a hydrogen atom or methyl ethyl or propyl radicals, R 3 is a C 9-12 alkadienyl, cycloalkenyl, cycloalkylalkenyl, cycloalkylidenealkyl, or cycloalkenyl alkyl radical, one of R 6 and R 7 is an alkenyl radical and the other is a hydrogen atom or a C 1-5 alkyl radical, or R 6 and R 7 taken together form a cycloalkyl radical R 8 is hydrogen or hydroxyl, R 9 and R 10 each represent a hydrogen atom or a C 1-5 alkyl radical, E and G each represent a chain of optionally alkyl-substituted carbon atoms completing a cycloalkenyl ring and where the number of carbon atoms in the following combinations is as follows, R 2 + R 4 =C 0-2 ; R 2 +R 3 +R 4 =C 10-13 ; R 5 +R 6 +R 7 =C 8-11 ; R 9 + E=C 8-11 ; R 8 +R 9 +R 10 +G=C 8-11 together with, in the case of a food flavour modifying composition an ingestibly acceptable flavoring adjuvant and at least one adjuvant selected from vanillin, 1-(3, 4, 5-trimethoxyphenyl) propene- 2, cinnamic aldehyde, eugenol methyl ether and DL methionone. The compounds of the invention may be directly added to tobacco preferably in an amount 0.00005 to 0.3 weight %. |
